Girl Scouts, Optimists, Bright Futures hopefuls, Valencians and Keep Seminole Beautiful’s normal cast of volunteers joined together on an absolutely perfect Saturday morning to help “Keep Seminole Beautiful.”

Volunteers of all ages

Kristin, a Rollins College Intern who worked on the Wekiva Island Rain Garden took a break to enjoy the river.

Dan & Rinda's family joined in the days effort.

Girl Scouts do their share.
A mere three hours later twelve pounds of aluminum cans and other debris were removed from the Wekiva River, designated a Florida Outstanding Water, a Florida Canoe Trail, a Florida Wild and Scenic River, and a National Wild and Scenic River with over 70,000 acres of state-protected lands in the basin.
Most of the trash recovered comes from roadways’ storm drains along the Wekiva Basin. On the third Saturday of each month Keep Seminole Beautiful and Wekiva Island sponsor road clean-ups along Wekiva Springs Road and Miami Springs Road as a part of Seminole County’s Adopt-A-Road program.
