September’s Wekiva River Clean-up nets 604.5 pounds of trash.
It was truly a beautiful day along the Wekiva.
Families and a dog or two enjoyed the fresh air & exercise.
The hunters were ever vigilant
Volunteers weigh the trash they’ve recovered
Volunteers all pitched in to give a hand out of a love for the Wekiva and being in this wondrous place. SCUBA divers, skin divers and canoeists pulled cans, bottles, a marine battery, shoes, lighters, tennis & golf balls, toys and plastic cups from various fast food restaurants on Wekiva Springs Road that end up flushed n the storm drains and then into the river. Many yards of fishing line, rods & reels, hooks, plastic worms and bobbers that trap, injure and kill birds, turtles, otters and other sea life. I’ve been assured next month we’ll top the 604.5 pounds!
