 Hi all~~

I apologize for the late update, but I had some email problems. I sent out an update as soon as I tallied all of the tortoises and burrows last Friday, but the update did not make it to everyone. I have been sending emails, some making it and some not. I think I have fixed the problem now. So, here's the update of our totals thus far as well as the schedule for the continuance of the dig.

Thanks to all of us working together, 240 tortoises have been saved. And, we have dug almost 550 burrows!! YEAH!!!!!!!! An entire self sustaining population of tortoises will continue on into perpetuity thanks to your hard work and generosity...

But, we still have more work to do to save the remaining tortoises on the site.

We will continue the dig on Friday, June 29th and Saturday, June 30th. I have had several requests to try and make one of the days Saturday, and we were able to book the backhoe operators for Friday AND Saturday. We are in need of tortoise handler and scour team members once again. On Saturday, we will review our progress and determine whether we need to continue into next week. We have approximately 130 burrows left to dig.

My phone has been devastated by sand and sweat (:P:P:P) and is not working terribly well (I'm waiting on a replacement). You are more than welcome to call (hopefully it will ring) or email me if you are interested in helping out on one of these days. As always, you are more than welcome to come to the site (if you cannot reach me prior), and we'll put you to work :P:P:P

Thanks again for your dedication and generosity to these imperiled species...
